Today we covered: What is Disliked during the Prayer

  •  To move around and fidget (e.g. Head, upper body)
    •  The Hadith of the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم that fidgeting is something by which shaitan takes away some of the reward of your prayer
    • Exceptions to the above due to necessities
      •  picking up a small baby
      •  moving away from danger
    • What happens to the one who moves his whole body with no justification
  • Looking around is disliked
    •  the statement of the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم rebuking the ones who look around or look up during the prayer

  • It is also disliked to close your eyes when Praying
    • Possible exceptions to the above
  • To lean on something whilst Praying
  • To flatten your arms on the ground when prostrating
    • the statement of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to balance your position in your prostration and do not flatten arms like a dog
  • It is disliked to play around during the prayer
  • To pray in a place that has pictures is disliked
    • This resembles the worship of idols
  • It is disliked to pray whilst being distracted
    • If you are in need to answer the call of nature
    • Extreme cold
    • Hunger
  • It is disliked to pray whilst desiring to eat some food which has been prepared
    • However, if prayer time is about to lapse, then pray
    • What to do in Ramadhan
  • All the above is disliked as it reduces the concentration and focus you have during your prayer
  • It is also disliked to prostrate only on your forehead only as it resembles the shia
  • It is disliked to wipe one’s forehead, nose etc if there was any earth on it from prostration
  • To wipe your beard, nose, or fidgeting with your garment unnecessarily
    • what about needing to blow nose or if one has a nose bleed?
    • what about if you have an itch?
  • It is required of a Muslim to focus fully during your prayer  
    • Shaykh Utheymeen: “Dont Just pray with your body, pray with your body and your heart”
  • What about Mobile phones in the Prayer?
