The Prophet (ﷺ) will be granted a Lake in Paradise called the “Hawdh”

At what point in the Hereafter is the Hawdh encountered?

is it before the Bridge over Hellfire or is it beyond it?

Is there one Lake or more than one?

How large is it?

The Prophet (ﷺ) indicated the size of the Hawdh using the approximate distance between certain cities. However there are multiple narrations and these are grouped into 3

  • Group 1: The travelling distance of a month, for example the distance between
  • Group 2: The travelling distance of two weeks, for example the distance between
  • Group 3: The travelling distance of two weeks, for example the distance between

How do we understand these narrations?

💡NOTE: All of the narrations are legitimate and these are different Hadith, not the same with different variation.

So it cannot be said that the hadeeth are incorrect or that one is weaker than the other. Therefore, how it is possible to explain these differences in the narrations.

  • These are different Hadith, not the same with different variation
    • There are 5 ways to understand the above:
      1. The Prophet (ﷺ) was giving general estimates. What is the issue with this opinion?
      2. These differences exist because the Prophet (ﷺ) would answer the question based on what the questioner knew and understood so that the one asking gets a perception. Are there any issues with this opinion?
      3. That the size of the Hawdh was increased by the virtue of Allah. What implication does this opinion have?
      4. That the distances were different dimensions (e.g. length vs width?). Are there any issues with this position?
      5. The distances are relatives to the mode of travel

Further matters surrounding the Hawdh
